Arturia saves my bacon again! I needed something to handle one-shots and other special effects and mini-leads with my Korg Kronos 2. I initially bought a Korg NanoPad 2 for the task, but it’s actually too-tightly integrated with the Kronos, and that caused some unpredictable results when playing in a situation where the master tuning is changed, causing all my split points and pad assignments to be off.Enter the MiniLab. It’s built like a brute, so it’s going to hold up to live gigging very well, and the feature set is almost unbeatable for the price. The setup application allows precise editing of the MIDI data being sent, and results are quite predictable. One thing you’ll need to be aware of, though, is that this product is USB bus powered ONLY, so make sure the device you want to use it with provides adequate power.

Feels like a heave steel plate is welded to this thing. The weight might make you think twice about carrying it a rucksack, but its good for a desk model. Key sensitivity is consistent and you can play soft and loud without wondering how the sensitivity might respond – as its consistent and you don’t have to hammer the keys like those cheap keyboards. The setting parameters are great out of the box – though there is a utility to set them and backup the various ‘memories’ of the device. All the knobs are mapped to the supplied sofware which includes 1) Analog Lab 4 and 2) Analog Lab V and 3) Ableton 10 live-Lite and a Midi Control centre (for tweeking parameters or moving track patterns from one project into another)The fun you can have tuning old 1970’s synths and spending an afternoon creating weird noises. All the presets can be saved. The Aturia MidiThe only downside is that all the software is about 4-5 gigs and requires a long setup procedure of using anti-piracy licence programs including Aturia Software Centre, UVI.com portal and of course iLok (the current version will work wirh Windows 10, not some bundled old package version). Following the online instructions just to get all the software and licenses installed took me a few hours. The Model D piano is something that ‘appears’ once you’ve connected iLock to UVI (just don’t ask). The number of synths and software is probably worth the price of the hardware (when you see how much the software is to purchase) . Many of the Arturia plugins are there to ‘explore’ as trial / demo pieces before you buy. But you do get quite a lot for free.Ableton lite is probably in the same competetive area as FL Studio, but is easier to learn if you can put up with its fiddly piano roll. Having bought cheaper keyboards, I was struck about how nice looking, sturdy and how nice the keys are to play. The keys width is still smaller than a full size, but not as small and fiddly as the cheaper keyboards.

Please open the Midi Control Center and Drag & Drop the factory template in all the Minilab’s memories. You Pitchwheel must be set to OFF in the Minilab parameters.

Prodotto altamente consigliato.

Nice bit of kit, good value. Arturia is a very well respected brand. I returned it becuase it wasn’t helping my setup the way I envisioned, I was only using the rotary knobs to automate within ableton, I already have a keystep which is better suited for hardware.

As someone who loves the sounds of synthesizers, I had no idea that there have been affordable software-based synths out there for years now. I didn’t want to invest a lot of money because I didn’t know if this would hold my interest enough. This is the right piece of equipment at the right price point. The construction of the unit is superb, it isn’t all plastic, part of the case is metal which gives it a good heft, it really feels solid. The keys feel great as well, especially for a unit this inexpensive. I had no problems installing any of the bundled software and had it all up and running in short order. It turns out that there are literally hundreds of free virtual instruments available out there (as well as effects, samples, host software) that you can download and use with this controller. If there are two caveats (especially for a non-trained player such as myself), it would be that 25 keys really aren’t enough to play stuff that requires both hands, and that these are “mini keys” rather than full size ones, which I find are a bit more forgiving for my adult hands. I wound up selling mine after a few months to upgrade to an Arturia controller with 49 full-size keys, but enjoyed every minute with the MiniLab25 mkII. Keep in mind that the included Ableton Lite host software (sometimes referred to as a “DAW”, or digital audio workstation) only allows you to create with a maximum of eight tracks. Even though Ableton is the industry standard DAW, a more capable version will run you around $300. You can get some great DAWs for free, or for far less than what Ableton charges. Unless you eventually plan on upgrading to a better version of Ableton, I’d recommend getting a less expensive DAW and learning on that one rather than learning Ableton Lite and eventually switching to a different DAW and learning that one from scratch. I personally recommend Mixcraft 9 Pro, which comes with many outstanding bundled synths and effects (including Melodyne) and is a killer DAW in its’ own right.

Thee keyboard is good and value for money as expected. The build quality is also superior as compared to other brands selling their midi in this price range. The only thing I didn’t like was the packaging and the safety measures taken to ensure everything stays safe, there was only a thick plastic wrapping on the product’s box.I expected another amazon box in which it should have been delivered, hence 4 stars.

Excellent quality and terrific price. Given all the included software, it’s a bargain. Excellent portable controller. Sometimes wished it was a little bigger but the trade-off in portability and price is worth it. The perfect integration with analog lab is great. Given the library of patches available it is an amazing value. For $80 you can upgrade the software to get 10x more patches but the hundreds you get with the lite version is more than enough to start with.

I received this midi keyboard over three weeks ago and found no sound while I press four keys of keyboard. Also, the keys of the keyboard are not align in good position. I want to return this keyboard but I check with the delivery agency that let me down for the shipping cost over the price of this keyboard. I contact Amazon for help but they also can’t find a solution at this moment. This is my first time I receive a useless item from Amazon. I will consider to buy weighted electronic items from Amazon to prevent further losses if I needed to return the items.[Updated on 5 Mar 2021]: I found the price in local dealer even cheaper than Amazon. So SAD.

Feels really robust and well made. Keyboard very playable for its size, and the pots feel solid. Important for me, it fits in my laptop bag to be carried around easily with my computer. The software is not the most intuitive for mapping, but works, while the drum pads feel a little erratic in terms of response to me – I don’t really use them myself but they might be important for some. A 5-pin MIDI out would be a useful addition.

Overall, this controller does everything I need it to do as a hobbyist. If you’re looking for more than that, then you probably want to invest in a higher quality product. My major complainta with this model are that the drum pads feel stiff and cause some hits to not register and the knobs feel a little flimsy. The pads are also farther apart than on most midi controllers and make some patterns awkward or nearly impossible without moving sounds around in your software. In hindsight, I personally would have wanted to invest a little bit more money and get a higher quality model, but the value of this product at this price point makes it a solid purchase that’s great for amateur producers like myself.

I bought the big model of this keyboard for about $500 and the springs eventually started to pop out of place in some keys. I bought this mini model to travel with and it is just like their bigger model. Its pretty but if you get groovy when you’re feeling the music, and hit the keys hard, avoid this piano. Springs will give if you are not super soft-handed.

Well, at least for a little while it feels this way. In another place and time this this plasticky thing with knobs and software could be worth a million bucks. This controller comes with Analog 3 software (get the $29 upgrade, of course) which features presets/sounds (unbelievable…yes, thousands)from several pianos and synthesizers from the past. One of the keyboards of many it offers has sold for a 100K.Ok, the controller, yes fine. nice keys with spiffy knobs, and the pads, well they do what they’re supposed to do. Sometimes this keyboard is the perfect size, and sometimes I could use a couple of extra octaves. Other controllers in this price range could be just as nice, I don’t know, this is my first. But I guess the thrust of this review is about your ability to modify and layer characteristics of musical sounds for an infinite amount of time with Arturia’s included software. So basically if you’re in the market for any piano or any synth keyboard, just get this thing for this small amount of money.

I loved+ the build quality+ the feel of the keys/knobs/pads+ the included AnalogLab software (lots of fun sounds!)I did not like:- VST control using the endless rotary knobs. This was extremely frustrating. If you plan to use your MiniLab to modulate settings for non-Arturia VSTs, then I recommend you go with a different midi controller with knobs that have min/max values. Here are more details about the VST control problems:There are two main modes for knobs: Absolute and Relative.Using the knobs in “Absolute” mode is very tricky because, without min/max bounds on the knobs, you don’t know what the current value is; so when you change tracks, you either get large jumps in settings or (if you turn on “soft takeover” in your DAW) you have to spin the knob blindly to hunt for the “takeover” point.Using the knobs in “Relative” mode is also frustrating: instead of just sending one value for “+1” and one value for “-1” when turning the knob in either direction, Arturia uses a special system where the knobs send different values for how fast you spin the knobs. This seems clever, but none of the DAWs that I tried (Ableton Live and Reaper) actually support this. What this means is that, in “Relative” mode, the DAW will only recognize the knob’s input if you turn it slowly enough to register +/- 1. There’s one way around this: you can turn off “Knob Acceleration”, so that no matter how fast you turn the knob, it only returns +/- 1. However, the result of doing this is that the knob is way too slow! For example, I have to turn the knob 5-6 full rotations to move a VST’s knob from min to max.

This thing sucks. It’s built and billed as this durable product, and it certainly has the weight for that, but 4 of the knobs broke off after about a few months of use. A few months! I wasn’t even being rough with the thing. All of the keys are sticky now (despite me being completely clean with the device), and the drumpads are barely responsive so I have to practically slam my fingers on them to produce any results. Buy something else!

Everything about this is good except for the crappy cheapo touch modwheel, the analogue lab instruments are all a bit lackluster in sound, there’s no midi out port, it does not work out of the box with Fl Studio so you’ll need to manually map all of the midi knobs, and the drum pads are sort of useless. My first midi keyboard though which is a pleasure to play and I’ve had a lot of fun with it, I’ll soon upgrade to a larger midi keyboard though, and keep this for working with synth vsts

Okay physically the item, the controller actually is built very solid and appears to be a top-notch quality unit . however the company has designed a nightmare registration and security process that is ridiculous you got serial numbers unlock codes activation files plus drivers to try and deal with to get the unit to work it is really ridiculous in my opinion…. it 100% ruins this product. I would not order this product nor any other from this company as they have gone overboard in trying to capture your email information in order to Market more products to you in the future. I understand business is business but as a musician I don’t want to deal with that kind of horse poop! PLUS, once you do get the product registered?? You can’t sell it to anyone else. As your name is locked into the unit. And it will not work for anyone else. I buy and sell audio equipment all the time. I see this new type of security system as being a nightmare!!It took 2 hours of trying, downloading, registering, re-registering, entering in numbers and codes… FORGET IT!!I WILL NEVER ORDER ANOTHER PRODUCT FROM ARTURIA!!THEY RUINED THEIR PRODUCT WITH YHIS REGISTRATION PROCESS!!Jim

They are getting a solid three stars for customer service. They really tried hard to work with me and figure out my problems and they let me send it back when it was unsolvable after 9 months. Main issue was that a third of the keys didn’t work. It worked fine with Ableton live lite (the keys that worked).I advise people to really think about what their goals are. I was just starting out and I quickly realized 25 keys wasn’t enough for me as a pianist/ music producer. So I ordered a a-49 Roland midi keyboard. I also bought something with bigger pads (Akai).

The action of the keys is so smooth and quiet. I have an older full-size controller, and I wish its keybed felt this good. The advantage of the endless rotary encoders versus knobs with hard-set min/max values is you don’t get sudden harsh jumps when the settings on the plugin preset don’t match the encoder positions. Instead it smoothly proceeds from wherever the preset is. The latest update made that even smoother.I’m very pleased with this purchase, especially now that the octave +/- buttons no longer blink when you shift the range, but stay solidly lit. That was awful because it never matched the bpm of the song I was playing. It was my only complaint, and it’s fixed now.

made my very first song on this and it was pretty sweet. comes with software that blows my mind how it can be a added bonus with the purchase. ableton live although the lite version is the industry leader in music production and the software that they built them selves which can be ported into ableton live is next level cool. if youre interested in buying this for a hobby like i did or even major production, this is the product you are looking for. many features that cant be covered and is a very SOLID piece of equipment.

Ok I bought this keyboard a few weeks ago, but I should have researched it more. It looks great, it feels great…but I reckon it ends all there. IF you are using Ableton than maybe this is a piece of kit you would be interested in but honestly if you are using Logic Pro X then I would say, give it a miss. The keys feel quite good and the size of the keys even though it’s a MINI keyboard are very good, the potentiometers (knobs) feel quite good, but they could be better…the pads are too small and often not as responsive especially when play drum fills or similar things. Now let’s go to the salient part…the software that comes with it to configure it and to do MIDI changes…MCC or Midi Control Centre…it is not as obvious as you might think to adjust and configure the knobs and pads to work with other VST plug ins…Ableton or Logic or whatever DAW you are planning to use. There is not much info online or for that matters on their website on how to do that…they kind of expect you to be a MIDI guru…it comes with a preset SHIFT+PAD1 that works with their plug in ANALOG LAB and for that plug in it works great (it has been programmed by Arturia and it is a READ ONLY file, you cannot change it) but from that to program the rest of the keyboard it has been headache after headache…I had to watch dozens of unofficial tutorials online to understand how to do that…their customer service keeps replying with custom made emails that say the same thing over and over. Also I thing that I didn’t like is that you can program 7 different MIDI Profiles by pressing SHIFT+PAD2, SHIFT+PAD3 and so on….for each one of them you can assign the knobs and pads to a certain midi channel…but the keys stay assigned to Midi channel 1…so while you are expecting the knobs and pads to control one plug in..when you play the keys sends signals to other channels. After 7 days of setting it up and working here and there and then 3 knobs stopped working and after few days and several reset the all keyboard came back to life…I ended up RETURNING it to Amazon.I hope it helps.

Pretty cool,I like tooling around in analog lab 2 with it, only downside is I’m having trouble getting it to work in ableton live 9 standard 9.7.5 and the knobs are slightly wobbly, just got an email from arturia support which will hopefully sort it. Edit: I wasn’t arming the track lol and you have to manually assign the knobs in the effect window, the help window and walkthrough helped it make sense.

I was looking into getting a brand new MIDI controller to up my production skills. And was having a difficult time trying to decide which would be best by researching as much as I could without actually trying them in person (youtube, reviews, etc etc.) May choices were narrowed down between the Arturia Minilab mk2 or the Novation Launchkey Mini 3. (I have ordered from AKAI before and they shipped me a damaged unit, DON’T BUY FROM THEM)Anyways, the Novation Launchkey had more drum pads which was intriguing… BUT all of my research showed that the quality of the Arturia Minilab is a standout selling point. It would almost be worth it for the software included alone. Analog Lab 4, although it is a lite version, it absolutely incredible and is how sampling/ROMplers should be done. All in all, completely satisfied with my purchase. One downside I see about my purchase (maybe others have similar experiences) is that the velocity drumpads work well but are a bit stiff. I believe these can be adjusted though..BTW be sure to upgrade your Firmware using the software center, it does improve the knobs and pads response.

I am very new to this type of thing, but pretty good on IT things. You get a lot of free bundled software with this, but creating accounts, signing up for them and then implementing was quite a chore, but once done really did everything as expected after a little YouTube help. A lovely device, if this is what you believe you require, solid build and very well laid out.

I just love this keyboard. It integrates really well with Analog Lab 3, plus I am gradually setting it up with the other soft synths I use (Z3TA+2, Studio One stock synths, other Arturia soft synths). It has also pretty much replaced my Roland A-500 49 key controller, except for times when I need the extra octaves (rarely). It also integrates very well with the Arturia KeyStep – another recent purchase with which I am overjoyed. Having spent twenty years using presets I have recently become hooked on tweaking and creating patches from scratch, and it’s in no small way due to this keyboard. Having loads of fun into the bargain. One teensy dislike is the finger strip instead of the wheel concept. Not a fan, but not worth dropping a star as everything else is so good.

I love it!!This has really helped open the floodgates of creativity for me. And I have barely scratched the surface of configuring knobs and pads and unlocking its full MIDI potential. Works out of the box to start creating I’ve used in in GarageBand, Ableton, and Logic with no issues. The keys are at a good scale for average size fingers and the feel of the key bed is very good, not at all flimsy. I’m sure the metal base has a lot to do with that. For me the value for money is high. Easy to use as a beginner. It may be a little on the big side (approximately 15” laptop size) if portability is main concern but it will fit in a backpack if required.

Nothing stellar as far as DAW integration with the exception of Arturia instruments, but I didn’t buy it for fancy controls.Keybed is quality and pads are better than expected. Pitch and modulation strips are responsive. Keyboard response is maybe slightly slower than I expected, and the keys are a slightly stiffer press than I imagined, but hardly a complaint and it works well in its element. Build quality is superb and nothing feels flimsy. I don’t feel the need to be ginger with it whatsoever.Edit: Changed review score from 4 stars to 3I’ve noticed some notes tend to stick. The keys themselves don’t stick at all, but occasionally when playing a chord progression or quick run, one of the notes will continue playing until the key is struck again or playback/recording is stopped. This seems like a software issue, because if something physical was sticking inside the keyboard, the note shouldn’t cease playing whenever playback stops. I’m running all the latest firmware and drivers, and have encountered this issue numerous times in two different DAWs. It’s an easy enough problem to fix in the midi editor, but it’s just really distracting, and more often than not I find it causes me to end up making more mistakes. Just frustrating really.Another gripe I have is the encoders. I don’t know if it’s a side effect of offering endless encoders at this price range instead of fixed position knobs, but they just suck sometimes. They can be very finicky, sometimes turning the encoder the slightest bit can cause whatever value you’re altering to jump dramatically, while other times, turning the encoder too fast might cause the value to respond in the opposite direction; for instance, turning an encoder too quickly to increase reverb mix on a synth will occasionally cause the reverb mix parameter to drop down rather than rise up. I have no idea what causes this, but I’ve almost completely stopped using the encoders because of it.It’s a fine enough midi keyboard, and maybe it’s just me, but it seems like its really beginning to show its age. The keybed is still the best of the best at this price range, the pads are perfectly functional, I like the pitch and modulation strips, and the thing just feels super beefy and durable. I bought this because I needed something that I could count on to not fail after a year of use, and as far as I’m concerned, this was still the right choice in this price range for a durable device to stand the test of time. However, I paid for 16 encoders, which are largely useless to me now. The keybed feels amazing, but the response time is slower than I expected, and I’ve got midi notes sticking. It’s built well, but it’s a little clunky to use, probably due to its age.The bundled software is hardly competitive with other brands at this price range. Arturia has been depreciating Analog Lab over the last two years in an effort to boost sales of their other products. Analog Lab no longer offers complete instruments, only instrument presets with a seemingly random selection of parameters you can adjust. This means you can only slightly tweak your sounds within the plugin, any other audio treatment you want to do is going to have to be part of an effects chain. It was really handy as a complete beginner, but it becomes less and less useful by the day. It comes with a pretty trusty piano instrument as well, and lite versions of Ableton Live and Pro Tools. Compared to the various softwares packaged with keyboards from brands like Novation and Native Instruments, both of which offer Ableton Live Lite and a substantial library of other useful plugins and effects, the Minilab’s bundled software is a joke, unless DEFINITELY plan on using Pro Tools.Bottom line: For my money, if you want the BEST midi keyboard at this price range, this one’s not it. I’ve seen MUCH better features AND performance out of the new Launchkey Mini model from Novation, the Komplete Kontrol M32 from Native Instruments, or the Akai MPK Minis. I wouldn’t count on those keyboards holding up as long as this one with regular use, and they’ve all got their shortcomings, but from a performance and workflow standpoint, I think they’re the better choices.

I sent it back. The free software doesn’t let you save or export work. Just finding the software on the site was a nightmare. Then to download you must navigate to other websites. The other sites request a password that isn’t given and so I spent additional time finding that I didn’t need it. Even though it kept saying – incorrect password. When I finally had everything installed … and every program takes forever to install, and longer to uninstall. To upgrade the software they are asking $70.00. Are you kidding? So I’m going to send it back. I’m going to Guitar Center and get what I need.

Not a tiny toy midi keyboard, feels like almost an instrument. The arrangement of the pads is mehhh. If you really plan to take it with you in a backpack on a regular basis not the best option. Grand Piano, Ableton Live Lite and Arturia Lab Lite that comes with are amazing and enough for a beginner DAW user. Arturia customer service is very helpful and responsive. First the bad. People buy Midi controllers to avoid using mouse and keyboard. Lack of transport controls on a Midi controller is a fatal flaw…like, it is the whole point of using one.The good. For a mini keyboard the key bed is super good. The build quality of the entire unit is pretty noteworthy. It may work for alot of things but it is easy to get lost on which track you are on in session view of ableton with only one row of pads. That may not be a big issue for some folks because you can actually scroll through using the octave up and down but it is hard to me. I would have learned to get used to it but no transport controls or any real intuitive way to assign them to use with Ableton made me return it for the Novation MiniLaunch MK3. Note: The Novation build quality is nowhere close but being useable and functional trumps aesthetics at the end of the day.

Just a quick review (for a change). The MiniLab Mk II is a terrific little controller. It’s footprint is pretty much exactly the same as my 15″laptop, which makes it ridiculously portable and a perfect fit in my tiny studio. The keys are great – the days of mini keys being horrible is a dim, distant memory these days – and it works really well with all my software, straight out of the box. For the money it is really well made and feels like it will last ages. I also have a KeyStep to use on stage and the two instruments complement each other nicely.Analog Lab, the lite version of which is bundled with the controller, is a really nice software instrument that works as a standalone or as a plugin inside your sequencing software. When you register, you get the offer of an upgrade to the full version for just $29, which is a no-brainer. It is normally $99 so what you are really doing is buying the software and getting a high quality controller for thirty bucks. You can’t go wrong with that!

I originally bought the MPC Mini, but as soon as I got it and played the keyboard I was super bummed. Here I’d bought one of the most popular mini keyboards sold today and I discovered that the keys are just cheap pieces of plastic that flex every time you play them. The Arturia on the other hand has AMAZING feeling keys. The entire keyboard just seems better in terms of overall quality relative to the MPC. I really don’t get the love people have for the MPC Mini when you comapre it to something like this Arturia. If, like me, you are on the fence about which to get, just spend the 10 extra bucks for the Arturia MiniLab. The keyboard feels amazing, the pads, sliders, and nobs work great, the software it comes with is simple and works well, and it’s just an overall better quality product. The only reason one might go with the MPC is if they care a great deal about having big pads or need some of the unique control features that the MPC offers and the Arturia doesn’t. But, if all you are looking for is a small quality keyboard to make melodies and beats, this is the controller for you.

I use this for production in Ableton Live and it works great. The knobs feel excellent and overall the build quality is amazing. The only slight problem is that the keys are very small, but that’s to be expected in such a compact keyboard with so many functions. The included software (MIDI control center) is excellent for customizing how the drum pads and knobs work. Will definitely purchase Arturia products in the future.

First, the mini keys are the best I’ve used. I think the main reason for this is the key travel distance. These keys go about twice as deep as any mini keys I’ve used. It is nowhere near a real piano key, but it is a lot more satisfying than other mini keys.On to the knobs. First things first: the knobs do not have a uniform resistance. That is to say that some feel looser than others (rotate more easily) which makes using them a little frustrating. You definitely have to watch the software parameter you are controlling and rotate the knobs very precisely. This is exacerbated by the sometimes jumpy knob controls. I know that the jumpiness is not an insurmountable issue as I also use a Midifighter Twister which has very good, smooth knobs.Lastly, the Drum Pads are not very good. They require a lot of force to actuate. It’s not impossible, but good luck making any use of the velocity sensitivity. My unit exhibits an issue where the drum pads will sometimes trigger twice with one press. It was initially very bad, but I updated the firmware and it mostly sorted itself out. I say mostly because it still happens, but about 50-25% as often. (I ran into one issue when recording midi from the keys that seems like a similar double-note problem, but it only happened once).Software! It comes with a bunch of synths, an Ableton Live Lite key, and a grand piano. I found it bothersome that the Arturia synths required me to install a separate “Arturia Software Center” in order to download them. I also had to download the “Midi Control Center” in order to update the Firmware. So know, for this one device, I have 2 otherwise-useless programs installed just to use the included synths properly.

I am very happy with this purchase. The cost was just great for this midi controller which is amazing. Easy to use, to plug, with some apps to download and start making music. It has knobs and fuctions that may be for beginners will be a little challenging to use but nothing that can’t be learned with practice.I recommend this product if you are looking for something small enough to plug to your computer, it has touch sensitivity on its keys which allows some sounds to be sustained or be modulated. I just love it

This was my first midi keyboard. Now that I have it and have used it, I would buy a different keyboard for my needs. I will never use the pads, etc that it has, but that is me … not the product. It’s super well made and good value for the money. It’s just designed more for the electronic dance music person rather than someone who wants to create guitar, piano and orchestral music. If you are thinking of buying one, think carefully if you want the pads and dials as maybe you only want the keys themselves and not too much more. On the other hand the price is low and it is fun to have it.

Arturia products are top-notch with their build quality, the keyboard feels well-built and sturdy. I love the weighted keys which give it much more of a premium feeling. The knobs and pads are also excellent and a pleasure to use. Software included is a very nice bonus for beginners. Very glad I went with this option as opposed to others around the same price point. Keep in mind this keyboard is not that small so portability may be a concern for some.

Feel & Responsiveness of the Keys are magnificent.Just wish they had more midi transport controls. Like Play/Pause, Record, Roll & Arrpegiator.Should they had these controls, even if for $30 more. I would give it 5 Stars.

Overall it is a great value for money.

I’m still not totally familiar with all the controls, but what I have used is excellent. The software which is included is particularly nice, especially the Analog Lab 4 software. Although, it wasn’t easy to figure out how to download it because the links weren’t prominent on the web page for the downloads. Arturia should make the download links obvious on the front page where the product description is located.

The drum pads are not responsive which makes it kind of useless especially when using the pitch shift which slows down the responsiveness of the drum pads even more. Everything works okay. Another thing was that i had to send multiple emails just to get the products which came with it as the key does not work and i still have not got the grand piano plug in which comes with it

I looked at a few mini sized keyboards, but what swung it for me was the sixteen rotary knobs on this little Arturia. What surprised me when it arrived is how sturdy it is. It is not cheap plastic and is actually quite heavy for its size. So far it has exceeded my expectations. I am using it with FL Studio 12 in my home studio. I have larger full sized keyboards as well, as I am a piano player, but sometimes it is just good to switch on the computer and get some beats going. For this the Arturia minilab is ideal. It comes with some good software as well. Recommended.

The bad: small keys, only 25 of them, making playing quite clumsy, does not have its own windows dedicated driver so it uses native Windows drivers, which make the device in certain condition unavailable and consequently not selectable. Also there are no MIDI connectors, which would workaround the above problem. The good: Portability, USB powered and nice MIDI CC.

When I first got this little controller I was pretty happy with it. The build quality felt professional and solid, the design was nice, and I figured it’d obviously play well with my various Arturia VSTs in the Reaper DAW. The keys seems nice and full with a nice amount of give and weight. As I got around to installing things and trying to get it to work … the picture got a little iffier. While the keyboard is basically plug n play, getting the knobs properly assigned is a bigger headache than it needs to be. You have to (or at least it first appears you have to) assign the sensitivities of the knobs through an Arturia software app that is just annoying to use all around. Once you get past that, it’s still very fiddly getting knobs properly assigned with the kind of response correlation you expect, even on Arturia’s own apps. While this was disappointing, you can actually bypass the Arturia app I later realized, and in most cases I could at least manage the basic assignments I wanted with a little bit of elbow grease. But then other little things started bugging me. The USB connector is incredibly flimsy and it’s easy for the cord to wobble around or even pop out. It’s also positioned in a way that is very inconvenient relative to my tabletop/desktop set-up. The pad buttons feel sluggish and unresponsive, but in fairness I don’t use pad buttons much, so I’m not sure if that’s unique to the product or just symptomatic of why I’ve never gravitated towards using those kinds of buttons in the first place.Even with all of this, I still felt that overall I had a reasonably decent if somewhat fiddly controller that looked and felt good on the whole. Then one — maybe two — of the keys started acting weird. They just will flake out and not trigger the note being pressed periodically, maybe once in every 8 or 9 presses. This only seemed to affect 1 or 2 specific keys. That was kind of the final straw, given that I spent $100+ on the thing. In the time since my purchase, I’ve read that Arturia keys have a bit of a reputation for being … not-stellar. They look good and make a good first impression, but I’m not sure the build quality under the hood is really there.I write this review maybe 2 years after purchase? Something like that. I don’t use MIDI controllers a lot so I’ve managed with it for this long, but I’m now shopping for a replacement and figured I’d leave my experience with this one. I’ve heard some of the Korg’s are pretty good so I’ll probably try one of theirs.

learning how to produce beats but I did not want to spend a fortune. This key controller came with software to download online and not to mention the design is very stylish, love the color LED glow lights on the pads <3 . There are so many sounds that come with the program the possibilities are endless. You also have the option of updating to even gain more instrumentals and sounds. I would recommend this controller to anyone who wants to learn more about music production or mixing.

The Keyboard looks and feels great. The analog lab 4 software that comes with it is so fun to play around with all the sounds. My issue is with the drum pads; they are too hard and are very stiff and inconsistent when playing them. Also, the Ableton Live Lite that is suppose to come with this keyboard did not have a verification Serial # so I can’t save anything that I record in the DAW…. so then whats the point of having it? Overall, 4/5.

Llegó a tiempo.

Love the keys, love the knobs, love the flat touch bar’s, love the build quality, love the software it comes with. The pads are just okay. They are not very sensitive, so if you’re used to playing by tapping, you’ll be frustrated with these. I don’t use pads very often so it’s not a huge deal to me.

The Mini Lab MkII has a quality build. The keys, the knobs and pads are all well done. It’s not light weight but, is very durable. I would carry the extra weight because it’s build quality and apparent durability. The limitless knobs a are perfect design choice. Moving from one instrument to another doesn’t require that the knobs physically reset to the previous instrument. You just pick up where you were.Arturia provided a firmware patch which fixed the blinking octave lights. They did not blink with your DAW (like a metronome) so it was distracting. The patch fixed that. The lights glow solid now, no blinking. The pads were double and triple firing when playing rapid patterns. The patch appears to have fixed that issue too.The modulator and bend pads are preferable to me They are much more flexible than the standard wheels. I can put a finger down in a specific spot without sliding there. That opens up interesting options of playability the wheels don’t provided. And, of course you can slide your finger and you have the standard wheel action. It comes with Analog Lab 4, a collection of classic keyboards, including my favorite the Hammond B-3. The MkII is worth the money for that collection alone. It interfaces with your DAW so you can control parameters right from the the keyboard. I have a full 88 key keyboard but, I use the MkII more now.5 stars for this little beauty.

I’m an Arturia guy. I also have a MicroBrute, Keystep, Pigments and their V Collection 7. I got this as a desktop module for Ableton, and it’s pretty seamless for that purpose, allowing a great amount of built-in automatic control once you connect by MIDI (painlessly). The knobs are endless and have the right amount of pushback to offer refinement. The pads are tight for nice control. My one issue is that I wanted to take this on vacation to practice some songs. It’s great for one-handed use on stage, for sure. But any sort of two-handed playing is about 5 keys too short of any but the most basic one-octave riffs on the right, and too short for a standard G-chord on the left. So I ended up taking my Keystep instead (also one key short on the second octave right, but overall much more useful). I’d say if I want to “play piano” I probably have to size up to a wider bed. But for quick riffs where you can manually adjust the octave range up/down as you loop, this is great, super tough, comes with great software, and has nice responsive (springy) velocity keys.

Returned mine because astoundingly it does not have aftertouch, even though it uses a shortened version of the Keystep’s 32 note keybed which has it. My fault for not reading the specs, but I never even gave a second thought to the possibility that it wouldn’t have aftertouch seeing that the similar-priced Keystep has it. Nearly all of the sounds with the included Analog Lab software need aftertouch to exploit them fully, especially the CS80 presets (no surprise). I don’t know what they were smoking over there in France when they sat round the boardroom table and decided to leave aftertouch off the features list.

I cant stop playing with this thing . It’s been a lot of fun fiddling around with Analog lab that I think I wanna buy the extended library of their sounds. But be aware they dont offer it to Minilab MK2 buyers for 29 USD anymore, that price has since gone up to 69 USD. That would be my only gripe for this midi controller, that the deal on extra sounds isnt as advertised.Other than that it’s a fantastic controller. I would have liked more sensitive pads but I dont know what the standard for pads is since this is my first piece of midi hardware.

I’m a total beginner to making music and have so far found this a blast to use! The free Analoglab software is superb, but I soon upgraded to the full package to get the full amount of synths and effects packs. It was worthwhile as you get a massive discount for doing so.This is a great piece of hardware and feels sturdy. It’s literally plug and play!

I’d gone through an Alesis V25 but returned it due to its size and the drum pads double hitting, and I thought this might be the answer. There’s a lot to love about the Arturia: portable, best-in-class mini keys, lots of rotary encoders (and no hard stops, which is great for multi-instrument control), and an old school design that looked great on my desk. The drum pads, however, left a lot to be desired. They require a lot of force to trigger and, much like the Alesis, they double hit frequently, rendering them pretty much useless. I researched and found its not an uncommon problem, and sadly one that Arturia routinely passes off as a cable and/or firmware issue. I returned the Arturia and bought a Launchkey Mini and while I prefer the feel and look of the Arturia, the drum pads were a must for me. Buy at your own risk (or if drum pads don’t matter to you).

I purchased the Minilab because I wanted a ‘sketchpad’ for ideas on the go, something with some controllers etc but also a decent keyboard. Having received the Minilab and had a little play, I decided that it’s not what I want, for the following two reasons:- The 25 keys aren’t enough – I know it’s got to be portable, but I felt I needed more keys- The depth and weight of the device make it less portableHowever, I acknowledge that this is a decent piece of kit – Arturia are well-trusted, and I have their Keylab 61 Essential, which is a great keyboard. Their synths are also great, and the MiniLab integrates seamlessly. On that note, I find it frustrating that the hardware is often tied-up with the software. With the MiniLab, you can MIDI configure the knobs etc to a certain extent. With my current mini-key device, the Komplete Kontrol M32, it’s even worse (but it has 32 keys!) – Native Instruments are the Apple of the MIDI world. So, if you want a completely free-of-proprietary device, then maybe you’re best off with the equivalent keyboards from Alesis, Nektar, Akai, M-Audio etc (I read reviews of these but rejected either because of keys or portability). But I can’t put down the MiniLab, especially as the keys and build are quality, and it comes with the excellent Analog Lab synth presets. So, make your choice, and I hope that this review is useful!

Cheapest one I’ve managed to get. I’m more than satisfied with. Works with Android phone and zenbeats app. I’ve used as a controller for the phone apps and it worked fine. Phone battery lasted for more than a 2,5 hours. Brilliant software included but it is quite complicated to install all software and plugins from the package and also it takes ages to fully install it. Little but important hint : Make sure you will choose exactly the same destination folders for plugins and software installed via Lab software center or otherwise it will cause massive problems and you might get mental 😉. Quality used materials for quite low price to pay. Keys feel surprisingly nice but a little bit too small and you have to be very careful which key you want to hit. In my opinion it’s a little bit small for both hands. Love the amount of knobs and variety of assigning them. Pads feel quite sensitive and responsive. In general I love it because of the price, functionality, what you get with it. Quality and satisfaction in a entry level controller (btw it’s my first controller in the beginning of discovering home music production).

I bought an Arturia Mini Lab MK2 and an Akai MPK Mini MK2 for comparison. The Arturia Mini Lab knobs and keys are awesome, also it has 16 knobs and they are digital (endless rotation), but the drum pads are really bad. It’s also bigger and heavier than the Akai MPK Mini.If you want this thing for the knobs and keys, go for the Arturia, if you want low weight and good drum pads, go for the Akai. I bought it for the keys and the additional knobs to control parameters, so I went with the Arturia Mini Lab.

Nice design and build quality, I love the keys and touch sensors but pads are not so good – very low sensitivity and no way to change it in midi control center. In fact the pads are just buttons with leds, because it is almost impossible to use them for finger drumming.

Having started on the Korg 25 key and using demo’s I felt I was ready to take the next step up. Arturia is popular for vintage Synth enthusiasts. Arturia minilab mk 2 looked good, 25 keys, pads and finger sliders to make reverb etc. I had problems down loading Analog lab lite but customer service helped me by giving me another link. Ive been checking out YouTube seeing how they loop music. I’ll get back to you on if I can do it myself.Well I tried Ableton but couldn’t get the hang of it I use Magix for my loops and recordings. But don’t let that deter you, you might be Ableton work it out! 😂 Bad joke! The touch sensitivity strips were ok, but I felt I couldn’t control them as much as the Korg joystick appragator. The keys are a good size but was wary when touching the keys didn’t respond as quickly as the Korg, it’s with in milliseconds but you can tell. All in all great Software, nice sturdy controller but I’d rather have pitch wheels than strips, I’ll be going back to the Korg Microkey 25.

The best mini keyboard option. But it’s not perfect.Sometimes the keys don’t feel great- hard to describe, they don’t feel mushy but it feels like there’s something light moving underneath them when you press them? They don’t always feel like that though.Pads are not up to par with AKAI’s, and are kinda tiny.Touch controls work better than you would think.Ridiculous amount of knobs

I personally recommend Mixcraft 9 Pro, which comes with many outstanding bundled synths and effects (including Melodyne) and is a killer DAW in its’ own right.

at first ableton didnt register over half the keys of the keyboard ( spoiler it still doesn’t!) when you do manage to be able to record with ableton, for some reason theres always 1 note that wont working, causing you have to re record OVER AND OVER some of my keys are becoming less stiff than the others, I fear they might break apart if I actually used this thing often, and on top of that crap NOW NONE OF THE KNOBS WORK, SOMETIMES WHEN YOU HIT A NOTE THE NOTE WILL KEEP RINGING OUT UNTIL YOU CHANGE WHAT PRESET YOUR USING SO MUCH SOMETIMES THE PADS DON’T WORK they designed this piece of junk so that you know you need a better one, and so i’m waiting till I have the money for a better one the keys are so cramped you can’t play fast solos up and down it because of the first and last note, theres limitations to what chords/ scales you can and cant play because of how small it is.

I had some problems at first but Arturia got back with me and fixed all of them. One was an issue verifying my new Arturia account, and the other was the pitch bend slider had gone out. It was fixed by a simple hardware reset. Impressed! The keys have some very nice feel to them compared to anything else I tried in this category. The only thing better was the Native Instruments S25 which is over double the price and much bigger/bulkier. The knobs are solid/smooth with only slight variation between the force needed to turn them, and the pads are surprisingly good. Like, I didn’t even expect velocity sensitivity to be good on the pads (it is), and of course on top of that they’re full RGB. The feel is actually better than the cheap Akai’s!! Wow. The sliders also deserve mention. I was skeptical if they would work as well as a mod wheel, and if you’re like awesome with a mod-wheel they might not. But for most people this is a fantastic compromise – it’s one less mechanical thing to go wrong, and it makes the unit a much more compact package. I quickly used all of the controls while messing with Analog Lab, which is a nice piece of included software.Overall, the MiniLab mkII gives you a really high density of controls without any of them being too small or useless, or even a lesser quality. Build quality seems rock solid beyond my wildest expectations at this price. I tried to flex the device on the corners and instead the table it’s on is flexing. The form factor is very nice and the size and weight are a good compromise – it’s not “light”, it is a bit hefty, but it’s not heavy, just solid. It’s not “small” but it could fit in a backpack and it’s “small enough” to not make major sacrifices on ease of use. The size is approximately that of a large textbook.I highly recommend this!! Arturia support wasn’t as bad as some have claimed, and the MiniLab feels way better than anything in this price point, or for that matter, any price point (for what it is). Meanwhile you get that fly wood grain on the side. What more could you want??Cons- the one downside is that Arturia seems to have partnered with Ableton and might not have nearly as good integration in other DAW’s. In Bitwig people are slowly making an extension for it. That said it includes a $25 copy of Ableton as well.

I deliberated between this and the Akai equivalent but eventually plumped for this one, primarily because of the quality of the keys, which are excellent. This really comes alive with the Analag Lab software bundled as part of the package. I haven’t really got used to using the pads yet, but tweaking the dials in Analaog Lab provides hours of fun and numerous sound tweaks. I quite like the touch pitch and modulation strips as well, although the modulation is probably easier to control. Would recommend if, like me, you are starting out on midi controllers.

Just had to return this. In theory was exactly what I wanted. Taking it out of the box the unit as a whole is awesome, feels well built etc but then I started using it….and those rotary encoders (the knobs). Any rotation medium to slow and the values start jumping arround, sometimes as much as 10%. So bad it is unuseable. You can completely forget about doing a slow filter sweep. Quick search on the internet (and indeed in some of the negative comments here on Amazon) and I am clearly not the only one. The terrible thing about this is apparently Arturia have known about this for at least the last two years, and not just in this device. Needless to say I wont be touching any of their hardware again. Aside from the knobs, I also foud the pads to require too firm a hit to register anything, and sometimes they even played a sound twice from a single hit so beware. Its really wierd, as the unit as a whole feels like they really tried hard to deisgn it well and really put effort into building a good quality product but then put some of the cheapest comeonets in it they could find. What a shameUPDATE 26/07/2020Arturia have just released Firmware update 1.1 “We’ve adjusted MiniLab MkII’s knobs to be more accurate and sensitive to subtle tweaks “. This may have resolved the knobs issue.

A little flimsier then I had hoped but you absolutely can’t complain for the price. Be mindful of the complainers, this thing is setup to work with Arturia software by default. You need to change the settings using the Midi Center software to optimize it for other synths

Be aware that this is a midi-controller and not a keyboard with presets loaded into it. This means you have to connect it to a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and sync with the sounds and controls on the DAW. I bought this to replace my i- Rig mini keys and to be honest, my i-Rig does the job pretty well and was a lot cheaper. The advantage with the Mini-lab is that you can have full control of all your sliders and virtual knobs and this makes recording so much more convenient than using the computer or laptop keyboard. The software it comes with is really good – Analog Lab 4, which has lots of synths, pianos and organs on it. However, there is nothing in the package to rival my usual sounds on Logic Pro X, which is the DAW I use. It also comes with Ableton Lite. I don’t know if I’ve done something wrong when I registered for the license but it won’t allow me to save any recordings, which makes it pretty useless. Like I said, I could be doing something wrong, but last time I tried, it wouldn’t let me save. No matter, I use Logic Pro X anyway but if you don’t have this or something similar, you might find Ableton lite annoying. I also don’t like the interface on Ableton – it looks like one of those DAWs that you got in the late 90s/early 2000s. Just kind of tacky and dated looking. I know I’m sounding negative. I do like the Arturia Mini-Lab mk 2 but I am just a little bit underwhelmed by it, having seen so many good reviews. One thing I will say is that the keys are nice and firm and springy and the unit itself is very well made and robust.

This is an okay midi controller. It looks nice and the pitch-bend and modulation strips are an interesting idea. It’s cool to be able to jump to values rather than bending to them. The small keys are fairly flimsy feeling and click against the bottom plastic when played. The pads aren’t very responsive and you have to hit them quite hard to trigger them. I like the colours though. The knobs are nice and feel very smooth when turned. They do occasionally suddenly jump values which can be annoying. If I was buying again I’d probably get an Akai MPC Mini instead. My brother owns one, it’s smaller and lighter than the Arturia, and the pads are much more responsive on the Akai. For a cheap midi controller it’s fine.

The Mini Lab MKII is a great product for anyone just starting out in music production to producers with years of experience. I have been using the Mini Lab MKII for about a month now and it is amazing. The key size is slightly larger than other MIDI keyboards however they are not full size. I love the feature where you can change the pad colour to whatever you would like, it just gives the keyboard a personal touch when using it. However, the only trouble I had with this MIDI keyboard is with the set up. I use Logic Pro X when producing, which is not the main program that this keyboard is made for. This caused a little difficulty with the set up but nothing major. Overall, the build quality on this MIDI keyboard is at the top for how much you are paying, the full metal back gives a nice weight to the keyboard which helps to keep it in one place. This is an amazing deal for an amazing product if you are looking for a MIDI keyboard that is for mainly stationary use with some portability aspects. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I’ll start off to say that I am not a musician, but I loved hacking around with synths in my younger years. and I just wanted to get myself a little something inexpensive, and a midi controller simply made the most sense for it’s versatility and not being limited to any hardware settings. That being said, even for $100-$150 I don’t like junk and appreciate good workmanship.I initially had a pool of about a dozen choices which got whittled down fairly quickly to 3 contenders (Nektar Impact LX25+, Akai Professional MPK Mini MKII and this one). I literally had to write each of them on pieces of paper and draw one, so I can’t say this Arturia MiniLab MKII is any better than those ones, but I’m hoping for at least longevity it is LOLThis controller has keys and pads with a terrific feel, excellent velocity settings and they all interact beautifully with the included software, in synch. The knobs are limitless (2 are push-down for what I haven’t checked out yet) so there isn’t any feel of when the limit has been reached, but since it’s a controller that works with various programs, it’s a benefit with this unit so it will work with pretty near any of them. The pitch and modulation pads are a bit weird for me, but having used the wheels so many moons ago it’s a cinch for me to get used to, though, and they’re very responsive. The other buttons I haven’t ventured into figuring out as yet, but will once I have time to read the various manuals for the included software. I do really like how the relevant octave button blinks once or twice to indicate which one (upper/lower) you’re currently playing in.One caveat if you do get this awesome bang-for-the-buck is have a few hours set aside to register and subsequently download the promised software. After you’ve registered your unit and installed their ASC to getAnalog Lab Lite and the Midi mapper, they provide you with the registration numbers to Ableton Live 10 Lite and UVI Grand Piano and links to download and install those sort of “third party”.Now down to learning some new software, 5 stars!

This is a mostly decent second keyboard for a laptop-based musician because it’s portable, and it also doesn’t take up too much room on a desk. It does have one annoying flaw (see later). The unit comes with configuration files for Analog Lab and Ableton. This make it instantly useful with those two pieces of (supplied) software. People have made helpful midi maps for it for Reaper, check out the Reaper forum in the MIDI section. If you use a different DAW you may need to configure it yourself, as it does not have any other configuration files, nor does it support the standard MCU DAW control protocol. (Of course the keys work for playing notes without requiring any configuration).Physical AppearanceThis unit is beautifully finished, and looks very good on a desktop with its illuminated pads. It has a metal base, which does make it heavier than you would expect. It’s slightly wider than a 14 inch laptop, and it fits in my (large) laptop bag on top of the laptop. It would fit in a standard laptop bag by itself. The KeysThe keys are spaced at a pitch of 2.0cm, as opposed to the 2.4cm of a full sized keyboard. They are only 9 cm deep. There are only 25 of them. If you accept these limitations, they are nice keys with a good feel. The velocity sensitivity seems about right, and of course there are octave up and down buttons to reach any note. This is a good keyboard for one handed playing of synths and samplers. If you want to play a piano with both hands, you may wish to look for a full sized keyboard with 61 or 88 keys.Sustain PedalThere is a socket for a standard sustain pedal, which is not supplied. This works as expected, and is much better than having a sustain button on the keyboard. The Pitch and Mod Touch StripsThese work very well, and seem just as useful as the wheels that are found on larger keyboards. The PadsThe pads are easily configurable, and work well as controls for the software. For playing drums, they require a firm hit, and I found it easier to use the keys.Rotary Encoders.I discovered that there has been a problem with the encoders on this unit for a few years. There are complaints all over the internet. The company has recently released a new version of firmware (1.1.2) that is said to address the problems. Most of the time, the encoders now work well. However, there are circumstances where they are so sensitive that it is impossible to accurately select a value. Surprisingly, this applies to both Analog Lab, where it is hard to select a preset, and Ableton, where it is hard to select a row. I suspect that the controller scripts in these applications require further work.I would not choose this controller if my main purpose was to perform live with it using Ableton, due to the difficulty in selecting the required row, and consequent risk of playing the wrong loop.Analog Lab 4 LiteAnalog Lab Lite feels almost like a demo version of Analog Lab. It costs another $69 plus VAT (so about £65) to upgrade to the full version.Ableton Live LiteAbleton Live is excellent for live performance of loop-based music. The limitations of this lite version are not too severe. If you only want to create non-loop-based music, there are better alternatives. If you don’t already have a license, this is one way to obtain one.UVI Grand Piano Model DI’m not sure why this full Steinway grand piano application is included with this keyboard. It is not possible to play a piano properly with only 25 keys. I didn’t bother to load it as I don’t need it.AlternativesMost small keyboards do not have endless encoders. The few that do include the Worlde Tuna Mini and the Subzero Commandkey 25. I chose the Arturia Minilab because it comes from a well known supplier, and because it includes Analog Lab Lite software. The Arturia Keylab 49 comes with the full Analog Lab collection for not much more money than the Minilab plus the upgrade price, if you have room for it.Some M Audio keyboards come with support for multiple DAWs built in.The Behringer X Touch Mini is not a keyboard but it includes a set of endless rotary encoders that “may” work better than the Arturia ones, and it could be combined with any other keyboard, including a full sized one. It does support the MCU protocol for various DAWs.There are many inexpensive Ableton controllers, if that is what you need.ConclusionsIf you can live with the occasionally dodgy control knobs, this is in other respects a nice small form-factor keyboard. If it supports the software that you want to use, it could be a decent buy.

Consiglio l’acquisto.

This thing sucks. It’s built and billed as this durable product, and it certainly has the weight for that, but 4 of the knobs broke off after about a few months of use. A few months! I wasn’t even being rough with the thing. at first ableton didnt register over half the keys of the keyboard ( spoiler it still doesn’t!) when you do manage to be able to record with ableton, for some reason theres always 1 note that wont working, causing you have to re record OVER AND OVER some of my keys are becoming less stiff than the others, I fear they might break apart if I actually used this thing often, and on top of that crap NOW NONE OF THE KNOBS WORK, SOMETIMES WHEN YOU HIT A NOTE THE NOTE WILL KEEP RINGING OUT UNTIL YOU CHANGE WHAT PRESET YOUR USING SO MUCH SOMETIMES THE PADS DON’T WORK they designed this piece of junk so that you know you need a better one, and so i’m waiting till I have the money for a better one the keys are so cramped you can’t play fast solos up and down it because of the first and last note, theres limitations to what chords/ scales you can and cant play because of how small it is.

This is a very nice controller. It’s laid out well, the build quality is terrific, the feel the keys is great and it’s a great value. The “included software” is a scam, however. To “unlock” the virtual instruments, you have to enter a serial number and an unlock code. However, the serial number of the controller doesn’t work and they don’t provide you with an unlock code. You also have to go through a cumbersome process to create an account for each piece or software, only to discover at the end of the process that you don’t have the unlock code. Buy this for the hardware. The software is a fraud perpetuated on the public.

The reason I’m giving this controller a 4 star review is based on the very annoying fact that despite it comes with an Ableton Live license, there is no template developed for this controller within the DAW which means you can’t use it properly (according to Arturia the template will be released with the new Ableton update in April 2017).As for the build and features of the controller I found it pretty good, the keys feel great, the knobs and the pads. It feels a little heavy for a portable controller.

Total novice using midi controllers/keyboards but I found the setup straightforward and painless. Simple enough for beginners right out the box but has almost limitless functionality for experienced users. Extremely well made, solid and knobs, pads and keys all have beautiful feel and action/sensitivity. Mini keys are ideal size for me to hack out chords/notes with my sausage fingers, I’m a guitarist so the size might not be to proper pianist/keyboard players taste. Bundled software is good but the grand piano package is a nightmare to install and really isnt worth the effort as it dosent sound any better than the Analoguelab ones. On that front kinda missed the boat as you only get the lite version which you could upgrade to full for about £30 with the previous model. The full package of presets will set you back the same as the controller about £100 with the discount if you tire of the 500 included. However you can purchase themed packs which you can audition for various prices upwards of £7. Integrated seamlessly with my DAW, studio one artist, but also comes with Abelton lite which I’ve not looked at yet. Would recommend to anyone in the market for such a device.

At first software to edit profiles was very buggy and annoying but I think that’s fixed now, has very good customisation and the keys are relatively good quality. Knobs 1 and 9 behave a little strangely though and I only use them as switchesSomething I only figured out after months of use is that you can switch profiles by holding shift and touching the pad that corresponds with the profile. All this time I had been loading the customisation software and re-uploading my profile to the unit every time I booted my computer up. It’s a lot easier to use now that I know this.

made my very first song on this and it was pretty sweet. comes with software that blows my mind how it can be a added bonus with the purchase. ableton live although the lite version is the industry leader in music production and the software that they built them selves which can be ported into ableton live is next level cool. if youre interested in buying this for a hobby like i did or even major production, this is the product you are looking for. many features that cant be covered and is a very SOLID piece of equipment.

The quality is fantastic. Keys give a good feeling under fingers, pads are excellent for finger drumming. Works well with Ableton.

This will bring many hours of fun and experimentation. I love playing the piano but this brings so many variations to my playing and also a great tool to create unique material for soundscapes backing onto my colourful videos … so really pleased I bought the machine along with the great combo of software included. Only moan would be that you can’t edit the source synths in this version of the software but perhaps I may upgrade (also they include a leaflet for the upgrade which refers to version 2 and they are now on version 4). Did download the additional synths / presets and they are all excellent and weird in places which is great (worth getting those as well as the ones in the original software) and in future, I will perhaps buy some of the additional material to add to the device. Totally recommended

Granted, I’m still learning how it works, but this thing is amazing. I run this on Logic Pro X on a 13″ 2018 MacBook Pro with through a USB-C hub, and it’s flawless. The ability to adjust parameters in Analog Lab (which is included with the keyboard, bonus) with the knobs is a neat feature.

The product is really powerful and portable at the same time. It comes with Analog lab lite, UV Grand piano, and Ableton live lite included in the package. The keyboard is fantastic and the knobs and pads are of superior quality. Works well with Ableton live, Cubase and Mixcraft Pro softwares. Great tool for making music and producing music. I recommend this to all musicians who are looking for a good midi keyboard at this price range.

Loving it so far, perfect integration with Ableton. The Analog Lab sound bank is great, too. Only throwback is that the upgrade price for the full Analog Lab went up considerably. (updated May 2019) Grand Piano software that also comes with it has a beautiful sound.Keyboard feels very well made and compared with other ones I tried for this price range, its the best option in quality. Drum pads are nice too, they do a great job at pressure sensibility.I recommend it 100%!

I really hate to leave negative feedback here, but maybe it will help somebody else.2 stars…really?Uh huh. As a midi controller this does exactly what it should which is play notes and offer other controls that can be mapped. So does almost every other midi controller and controllers are a dime a dozen. What should set this apart is it’s ability to integrate with DAW software Reason and Bitwig, but if fails to deliver. It seems that Arturia, the fine manufacturer of this product fell asleep after the MK1 version and failed to deliver an updated controller script. If you open up the current versions of Reason or Bitwig, you will see options for the Mini Lab controller. However this is for the outdated MK1 version. This is the MK2 version, so it fails to deliver.Trying to use this product in up to date DAW software leads to nothing but frustration.(I’m using Bitwig and Reason, maybe other DAW software took it on their own to carry the slack for Arturia and you’ll be in luck. This is not the fault of the DAW manufacturers, but is the responsibility of Arturia. They are releasing this hardware after all.

By far, i think this is the best option between the $100 25 keys midi controller. The build quality, design, keys and knobs surpasses by far all other options i think this one should be your first choice for sure!

I own electronic devises since 1994, I have chosen this because of the small size cause I need a controller for traveling, but I must say this is one of the worst MIDI controllers I ever had, the knobs work REALLY BAD, when you move them slowly values jump randomly, I contacted the technical support but they mentioned it is an already known issue (with no solution so far), and they suggested me to buy a more expensive devise if “I want professional results” (a very unfortunate answer). I DO NOT recommend this device at all.

The software that comes with the product is very good. You can record professional sounding music very easily by using Ableton Live lite and the Analog Lab lite software that is included. The responsiveness of the keyboard is also very good for something in this price range.

Soddisfattissimo!

I’m new to midi keyboards and thought I’d give this one a shot. The registration part was kind of a pain but once I finally got everything installed I was recording drum tracks and making sick melodies in no time. The pads are touch sensitive and work nicely. Keys feel good after being broken in a little. The software Ableton 10 Live is worth the price alone. The possibilities are endless with this midi.

I really like this controller. I’m brand new to midicontrollers and thought I knew what I was getting. Boy was I wrong…I’ve worked Audacity, pro tools, garage band, but never have I seen something as complicated as the software included….this is some top notch stuff! For real pros, and the average guy like me to fiddle around with some serious tools and try and grab a handle on it.Anyways, definitely not for beginners but if you have knowledge of recording software and have some musical abilities, then this is a great device. Also side note, I’ve been playing without authenticating my Ableton live lite account (yet) and my Arturia has been cutting in and out from time to time. I’m hoping this had to do with not authenticating and isn’t an actual defect. Because that would be disappointing, this machine is awesome

Feels nice and meaty . My only gripe is 3 of the keys squeek like crazy when I use it. I’m hoping this goes away overtime . Also the software that comes with it is useless because I make music in FL studio and would rather use that than a lite version of the software it comes with .
